Report only confirmed, source-backed items from the last 7 days: smoke and carbon monoxide alarm requirement, placement, interconnection and sealed-battery rule changes by state and city with compliance dates; smoke alarm, carbon monoxide detector and combination unit recalls and failure findings from CPSC, UL and manufacturers; free alarm installation programs from the Red Cross, fire departments and utilities; fire extinguisher, sprinkler and fire escape rule changes; lithium battery storage, charging and disposal rules; space heater, extension cord and holiday lighting safety actions and recalls; new home fire data by cause from NFPA and the US Fire Administration; and landlord alarm, inspection and replacement obligations.
