Radon, Lead & Asbestos Hazard Rule Watch

Why this is recommended

A free radon kit in January, a lead service line the utility will replace for $0 if the owner signs the form, or a disclosure rule that changes what a buyer can demand each cost nothing to know and thousands to miss. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer and most homes have never been tested.

What the Tab covers

Who it is for

The 40 million homes built before 1978, the one in fifteen homes with high radon and every parent of a toddler in either.

When it runs

EPA and state rules publish early in the week and free test kit programs open on set dates

Scope

EPA lead and copper rule, renovation repair and painting rule, radon guidance and asbestos rules; state and city lead paint, lead pipe, radon and asbestos laws with deadlines; free and discounted radon and lead test kit programs by state and month; lead service line inventories and replacement schedules by utility; lead in toys, cookware, food and school water actions; remediation grants, loans and tax credits; contractor certification and enforcement; disclosure rules at sale and lease

Suggested task

The objective your Tab starts with. You can edit every line of it once the Tab is yours.

EPA and state rules on lead paint, lead pipes, radon and asbestos with deadlines for landlords, sellers and contractors, free and discounted radon and lead test kit programs, lead service line replacement schedules and inventories by utility, lead in consumer products and school water actions, remediation grants and tax credits, contractor certification enforcement and disclosure rule changes at sale or lease, with the rule, city or program first.

Track lead, radon and asbestos hazards in US homes. Report only confirmed, source-backed items from the last 7 days: EPA and state rule changes and deadlines on lead paint, lead service lines, radon and asbestos for homeowners, landlords, sellers and contractors; free and discounted radon and lead test kit programs opening by state or city; lead service line inventory publications, replacement schedules and customer sign-up windows by utility; lead findings and actions on toys, cookware, food, cosmetics and school and daycare water; remediation grants, forgivable loans and tax credits; contractor certification enforcement actions; and disclosure rule changes at sale or lease. Prefer EPA, state health and environment departments, water utilities, CPSC, FDA, city programs and established local reporting; ignore remediation company marketing. Put the rule, city, utility or program first in the title with the deadline or amount. Use high severity for a free test kit program, a replacement sign-up window closing within 30 days, a rule taking effect within 90 days, or a lead finding in a product most households have. Return no more than 6 findings. Push each as a finding with a title, a two-sentence summary, sections for what changed, who it affects, what to do, the deadline, and the source link. If nothing qualifies, push nothing and submit the run receipt.
