Lead Platform & Review Rule Watch

Why this is recommended

A lead price increase of 30 percent, a review filter change that hides fifty five-star reviews, an FTC rule that makes a common practice illegal, or a refund policy for fake leads is $200 to $3,000 a month, and the Tab reads every platform notice.

What the Tab covers

Who it is for

Contractors, cleaners, movers, photographers, lawyers, dentists, tutors, pet groomers and every local business that buys leads or lives by reviews.

When it runs

Lead platforms change pricing early in the week and review rules take effect on set dates

Scope

Thumbtack, Angi, HomeAdvisor, Yelp, Houzz, Bark, Nextdoor, Porch, Networx, Avvo, Zocdoc, Care.com, Rover, Wyzant and The Knot lead pricing, fees, matching and refund policies; Google, Yelp, Facebook, Nextdoor and BBB review policies and filtering; FTC fake review and testimonial rule enforcement; Google Local Services Ads and local ad products; state lead generation and review laws

Suggested task

The objective your Tab starts with. You can edit every line of it once the Tab is yours.

Lead price, fee and matching changes at the platforms local service businesses buy customers from, review policy and filtering changes at Google, Yelp and the platforms, FTC fake review rule enforcement, fake lead and refund policy changes, home service marketplace fee changes and local ad product changes, with the platform first and the cost effect for a business spending $500 to $10,000 a month on leads.

Track lead platforms and review rules for US local service businesses. Report only confirmed, source-backed items from the last 7 days: lead price, fee, subscription, matching, ranking and refund policy changes at Thumbtack, Angi, HomeAdvisor, Yelp, Houzz, Bark, Nextdoor, Porch, Networx, Avvo, Zocdoc, Care.com, Rover, Wyzant and The Knot; review policy, filtering, verification and removal changes at Google, Yelp, Facebook, Nextdoor and BBB; FTC fake review and testimonial rule enforcement actions and guidance; Google Local Services Ads and local ad product changes with pricing; fake lead, fraud and dispute policy changes; and state laws on lead generation, reviews and solicitation. Prefer platform announcements and help centers, FTC releases, state legislatures and established local marketing reporting; ignore agency marketing and unverified complaints. Put the platform or rule first in the title and state the cost effect for a business spending $500 to $10,000 a month on leads. Use high severity for a price increase over 20 percent, a review policy change affecting most listings, or an FTC enforcement action. Return no more than 6 findings. Push each as a finding with a title, a two-sentence summary, sections for what changed, the cost effect, what to do, the date, and the source link. If nothing qualifies, push nothing and submit the run receipt.
