Four-Day Week & Compressed Schedule Pilot Watch

Why this is recommended

A pilot at the member's employer, a city that moved its workforce to four days, a state bill with a hearing date, a study with retention numbers a manager can cite, or a list of employers hiring on a four-day schedule are each worth the membership to anyone who wants Fridays back.

What the Tab covers

Who it is for

The 100 million full-time workers who would take the same pay for four days, the managers trying to make the case and the job seekers filtering for it.

When it runs

Employers and governments announce pilots on weekdays, and Friday is the day the question gets asked

Scope

Four-day week, 32-hour and compressed schedule pilots, adoptions and reversals at employers with 500 or more staff, cities, counties, school districts and state agencies; federal and state legislation and ballot measures; 4 Day Week Global, Boston College and academic research releases; union contracts with reduced hours; overtime, exempt and wage implications; employer schedule program application windows; hiring pushes advertising four-day schedules; international adoptions with US relevance

Suggested task

The objective your Tab starts with. You can edit every line of it once the Tab is yours.

Four-day week and compressed schedule pilots, adoptions and reversals at employers, cities, school districts and states with results data, legislation and ballot measures on a 32-hour week, employer eligibility and application windows for schedule programs, research releases with productivity and retention data, union contracts with reduced hours, government agency schedule changes, overtime and wage rule implications of compressed schedules and hiring pushes that advertise a four-day schedule, with the employer, jurisdiction or study first.

Track reduced and compressed work schedules in the United States. Report only confirmed, source-backed items from the last 7 days: four-day week, 32-hour and compressed schedule pilots, adoptions and reversals at employers with 500 or more staff, cities, counties, school districts and state agencies with results data where published; federal and state legislation and ballot measures with a hearing or vote; research releases from 4 Day Week Global, universities and consultancies with productivity, retention and health data; union contracts ratified with reduced hours; employer schedule program application windows; Department of Labor and state guidance on overtime and wage rules for compressed schedules; hiring pushes of 100 or more roles advertising a four-day schedule; and international adoptions with US policy relevance. Prefer employer and government announcements, legislatures, research publishers, union statements and established business reporting; ignore unverified trend pieces without a named employer or study. Put the employer, jurisdiction or study first in the title with the schedule and the date. Use high severity for an adoption or reversal at an employer with 5,000 or more staff or a city over 500,000 people, a bill with a floor vote, or a study with 1,000 or more participants. Return no more than 6 findings. Push each as a finding with a title, a two-sentence summary, sections for what happened, the results, what it means for workers, and the source link. If nothing qualifies, push nothing and submit the run receipt.
