Daycare Inspection, Violation & Closure Watch

Why this is recommended

A center that lost its license on Monday, a chain closing 30 locations with 45 days of notice, or a violation for an unsupervised toddler at the place a parent is about to sign with is information every parent would pay for and almost none can find.

What the Tab covers

Who it is for

The 12 million families with a child in paid care, and the ones on a waitlist deciding between two centers.

When it runs

State licensing agencies post inspection results and actions during the week; parents read them on Tuesday night

Scope

State child care licensing actions, inspection findings and complaint substantiations, named by state and provider; KinderCare, Bright Horizons, Learning Care Group, Primrose, Goddard, The Learning Experience, Cadence and Kids 'R' Kids closures, openings, tuition and policy changes; ratio, staffing and training rules by state; background check, abuse reporting and camera rules; safe sleep, transportation and medication violations; state licensing search tools and rating systems; federal CCDBG rule changes

Suggested task

The objective your Tab starts with. You can edit every line of it once the Tab is yours.

License suspensions, revocations and emergency closures at child care centers and homes, serious violation findings by state licensing agencies, provider chain closures and bankruptcies, ratio and staffing rule changes, tuition increase and enrollment policy notices at the large chains, background check and abuse reporting rule changes, safe sleep and transportation violations and new licensing search tools, with the state or provider first.

Track child care safety and stability in the United States. Report only confirmed, source-backed items from the last 7 days: license suspensions, revocations, emergency closures and serious violation findings at child care centers and homes published by state licensing agencies, named by state and provider; closures, bankruptcies, openings, tuition increases and enrollment policy changes at KinderCare, Bright Horizons, Learning Care Group, Primrose, Goddard, The Learning Experience, Cadence, Kids 'R' Kids and other chains with 50 or more locations; ratio, staffing, training and licensing rule changes by state; background check, abuse reporting and camera rule changes; safe sleep, transportation and medication violation findings; new or expanded state licensing search tools and quality rating systems; and federal CCDBG rule changes affecting parents. Prefer state licensing agencies, HHS, provider announcements, court documents and established local reporting; ignore unverified reviews and rumors. Put the state or provider first in the title with the action and the date. Use high severity for a license revocation or emergency closure, a chain closure affecting 20 or more locations, or a substantiated abuse or neglect finding. Return no more than 8 findings. Push each as a finding with a title, a two-sentence summary, sections for what happened, who is affected, what to do, and the source link. If nothing qualifies, push nothing and submit the run receipt.
