Affordable Housing Lottery & Waitlist Watch

Why this is recommended

A Section 8 waitlist that opens for four days once a decade, a lottery apartment at half the market rent, or a senior building with an open list are each life-changing, and they are announced on pages nobody visits at the moment they matter. This Tab exists to be shared.

What the Tab covers

Who it is for

The millions of households eligible for housing assistance, the caseworkers and family members helping them apply, and the middle-income renters who qualify for city lotteries without knowing it.

When it runs

Housing authorities open waitlists on weekday mornings and close them within days; lotteries post on set dates

Scope

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, public housing and project-based waitlist openings at all housing authorities, named by authority and state; NYC Housing Connect, Los Angeles, San Francisco DAHLIA, Boston, Chicago, Washington, Seattle, Denver, Austin, Miami, Philadelphia and other city lotteries with income limits; senior, disability and veteran housing openings; inclusionary, workforce and first-generation programs; lottery results and preference rule changes; HUD rules; portal outages

Suggested task

The objective your Tab starts with. You can edit every line of it once the Tab is yours.

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waitlist openings by housing authority with application windows, public housing and project-based waitlists, affordable and inclusionary housing lotteries in the largest cities with income limits and deadlines, senior and disability housing openings, first-generation and workforce housing programs, lottery results and rule changes and application portal outages, with the authority or city first and the deadline in the title.

Track affordable housing access in the United States. Report only confirmed, source-backed items from the last 7 days, or same-day for waitlist openings: Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, public housing and project-based voucher waitlist openings and closings at any housing authority, with application windows, eligibility and how to apply; affordable and inclusionary housing lotteries opening or closing within 30 days on NYC Housing Connect, Los Angeles, San Francisco DAHLIA, Boston, Chicago, Washington, Seattle, Denver, Austin, Miami, Philadelphia and other city portals, with income limits, unit counts and rents; senior, disability and veteran housing openings; workforce and first-generation homebuyer lotteries; lottery result releases and preference or rule changes; HUD rule changes affecting applicants; and application portal outages during windows. Prefer housing authority and city portal notices, HUD, state housing agencies and established housing reporting; ignore unofficial application sites and scams. Put the authority or city first in the title with the deadline. Use high severity for any Section 8 waitlist opening, a lottery closing within 10 days in a metro over one million, or a portal outage during a window. Return no more than 10 findings. Push each as a finding with a title, a two-sentence summary, sections for what is open, who qualifies, how to apply, the deadline, and the source link. If nothing qualifies, push nothing and submit the run receipt.
