Amazon plans to expand same‑day fulfillment network to 1,000+ locations by 2031
Business Insider reports Amazon is planning a major expansion of its same‑day delivery network under an internal initiative codenamed Project Mercury. The plan would grow same‑day fulfillment centers from about 85 today to more than 1,000 by 2031, putting facilities much closer to Prime customers and aiming to boost frequency and convenience.

AWS says access cannot be restored to Bahrain region and one UAE area after war damage
Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced it is unable to restore access to infrastructure in its Bahrain region after damage sustained during the U.S.-Iran war, and access remains lost for one availability zone in the United Arab Emirates. AWS said the Bahrain damage exceeded the design tolerances of its regional resilience and that many customers have shifted workloads to other regions; it did not provide a timetable for restoring Bahrain access.

Amazon closes £4.242 billion sterling note offering
Amazon completed a multi‑tranche sterling‑denominated debt sale on Sept. 14, issuing four series of senior notes maturing 2029, 2032, 2038 and 2045 with coupons of 5.200%–6.650% and raising an aggregate public offering price of £4.242 billion (net proceeds ~£4.235 billion). The notes were issued under an existing indenture and registered on the company’s Form S‑3 shelf, diversifying Amazon’s debt profile in UK markets.
