JPMorgan prices structured notes linked to index that uses an unfunded position in QQQ with daily financing drag

JPMorgan’s new prospectus (filed Sept. 15) confirms the MerQube index underlying the notes references an unfunded position in the QQQ Fund and applies a daily notional financing cost and a stated annual deduction, which will materially alter the index’s exposure to QQQ returns for note investors.

    JPMorgan Chase Financial Company LLC filed a primary offering prospectus for callable structured notes (due 2027/2031) whose reference index tracks an unfunded position in the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) net of a notional financing cost. The prospectus discloses the index applies a daily deduction (6.0% per annum in the supplements) and a notional financing cost to QQQ’s performance, which will reduce the index level and affect payouts on the notes.
