Muse builds profiles of your family and friends — even non-users

Muse keeps a file on the people around you — including children — whether or not they use it. Meta says the profiles are visible by design; researchers say most users had no idea.

    • Internal instructions describe an hourly process that builds "a page for every person in the user's life."
    • That covers family, partners, friends, coworkers, acquaintances — and people the user follows.
    • You don't have to use Muse to end up in someone else's file.
    • Muse tracks birthdays and topics that recur in chats or emails.
    • It records how close the user is to each person.
    • One report says it also tracks "tensions and alliances" between people.
    • A child's file could include their school name and what time they get home.
    • Ask Muse: "What have you saved about my family and friends?"
    • Ask it to forget a person, interaction, or chat.
    • In Settings → Data controls, turn off "Help improve our AI models."
    • Meta says Muse may still remember what it learned, even after deletion.
