In this brief: 3 sections 2 min read
    • • Built with Fourier Intelligence on its existing bipedal platform; Meta focused on the AI layer.
    • • Runs on Nvidia's Jetson Thor, the same chip family powering Meta's next-gen AI infrastructure.
    • • Meta has no plans to sell Max; it is an internal research prototype.
    • • Work on Max 2 began in September 2026, while the first prototype was still being evaluated.
    • • Stair-climbing sensors matter: a single-floor robot is of limited use in most homes.
    • • Meta also acquired San Diego startup Assured Robot Intelligence in May 2026 to build domestic robotics capability.
    • • The FCC expanded its Covered List to humanoids in July 2026, barring new Chinese-made robots in the US.
    • • Chinese law requires companies to cooperate with intelligence requests, covering data a home robot would collect.
    • • Max is not imported for sale, which may give Meta regulatory breathing room — for now.
