F1 and FIA reveal 2027 calendar with record 10 Sprint weekends and 24 races

F1’s 2027 calendar features 24 races and expands Sprint weekends to ten — including Monaco and the season finale at Abu Dhabi — plus new/returning circuits and an extended pre-season test in Bahrain, increasing points opportunities and operational demand for teams.

    • Sprint events increase from six to ten in 2027.
    • Monaco will hold a Sprint for the first time; Abu Dhabi (season finale) also gets a Sprint, raising late-season points on offer.
    • Sprints will be held in Bahrain, Australia, Japan, Canada, Monaco, Great Britain, Italy, Brazil, Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
    • The addition means up to 33 points can be available at a Sprint weekend (25 GP + 8 Sprint), affecting title-deciding scenarios.
    • The 2027 schedule lists 24 Grands Prix beginning in Bahrain (March) and ending in Abu Dhabi (December).
    • Portugal (Portimão) and Türkiye (Istanbul Park) return to the calendar.
    • Circuit Zandvoort is not on the 2027 list; Barcelona will rotate with Spa–Francorchamps (Belgium) in the new arrangement.
    • Pre-season testing is scheduled at Bahrain from 24–27 February 2027 (four days), instead of the traditional three-day test.
    • Teams will conduct testing at the same venue that opens the season, which reduces the gap between testing and the first race and increases early-season readiness requirements.
    • F1 cited logistical/geographical flow and fan engagement as drivers for the schedule layout.
    • Three of the new Sprint weekends fall in the first four rounds, front-loading competitive sessions early in the year.
    • The season includes a dense late-season sequence through Austin, Mexico City, São Paulo and Las Vegas before Qatar and Abu Dhabi.
    • F1 said the running order was built to improve geographical flow and reduce freight back-and-forth.
