Scheme changes stood out in Week 1 numbers — McLaurin alignment and Oweh usage

TruMedia and PFF numbers from Week 1 indicate clear schematic shifts on both sides of the ball that could change how opponents game-plan Washington.

In this brief: 2 sections 1 min read
    • Terry McLaurin lined up outside on 44 of 61 snaps but only 43.2% of those on the left — a big drop from 2025 patterns.
    • Stefon Diggs spent much of his debut in the slot; the team used more 11 personnel and operated from under center more.
    • No-huddle and shotgun rates were down compared with past seasons.
    • Defensive scheme used more Cover 2 and quarters, decreased Cover 1, and blitzed more under Daronte Jones.
    • Odafe Oweh played all 46 of his defensive snaps from outside the tackle and led the team in pressure rate.
    • Daron Payne’s pressure-rate alignments and Tim Settle snap distribution were noted as significant schematic details.
